ONES

Katrina has been gone for two weeks and the fingers are really starting to point. This one screwed up, that one forgot about the buses, and lots of loved ones got left behind. Everyone is asking what happened to everyone who was suppose to be in charge.
I am long past caring, I know the ones that helped and the ones that didn't. WAL-MART did not open a single store in South Mississippi until the Saturday after the hurricane,(that's about five days), and then only on a limited basis. Meanwhile locally owned grocers,(NOT Sunflower/IGA/Corner Market all owned by Doc Roberts of Hattiesburg,MS which also stayed closed, prick) hardware stores, and pharmacies all opened on Tuesday 8/30/05 the day after the storm. None of these business had power or water, most stores with perishables gave away their stock rather than let it go to waste. Drugstores used notepads to record prescription information, hardware stores used handwritten recites and waited for the insurance to reimburse their customers, no power meant no creditcards and no one had enough cash to cover major storm repair. The ones that helped asked for no credit, avoided the spotlight, and did what they knew was right no matter the outcome. The other ones, the ones that came around after the storm and tried to explain how much they tried to help, how much we need them now, how much better off we'll be if we let them take charge can burn in hell. WAL-MART locked their doors to the people that made them rich, and the people that return to shop at WAL-MART are fools.
When the shit hit the fan the locals stepped up and provided for their community, not WAL-MART, not FEMA, and not one political ass who lied about ones experience. Oh one last thing Applebee's Bar and Grill opened with a special health dept. permit only a few days after the storm. Applebee's was the first restaurant to open, they also were the first one to try to find their employee's still missing on the Coast.
