Lies

Day 18 after Katrina and we are still being told "Be patient". FEMA is a bunch of screw ups. Let me tell you about what's gone down.

Hattiesburg, MS FEMA reps get drunk at a local restaurant the ask for directions to the local hook-up bar(Roper's). I'm sure they did not use their position to get laid.

Gulf Coast, FEMA and other government personal have refuges removed from the few hotels still standing. Why, because FEMA and friends need A/C and privacy while they are here to help. Never mind the familys had paid for the rooms. FEMA said it would be easier if the familys were in shelters.

Camp Shelby, Sheriff Billy McGee sends deputies to get several semis that were sitting idol while FEMA decides what to do with them. Sheriff McGee distributed the supplies to people that had nothing. FEMA cried like little babies because no on respected their authority to do nothing. FEMA has threatened Sheriff McGee with federal charges.

The Red Cross is able to get money to people within a few days of the hurricane, FEMA is unable to make discussions with our tax dollars for weeks.

If FEMA is here to help, then help and if they are not going to help then get the hell out of our way and we'll do this on our own. 9/11 did not open enough peoples eyes to how our government really works. Its obvious that the people in charge of the government cannot even handle a close election, never mind a national disaster.

Here are some lies I've really enjoyed; it was a flood that destroyed your home on the Coast not a hurricane, so your insurance doesn't cover that. FEMA is here to help. Its only cosmetic not structural so insurance doesn't cover that. Everything is getting back to normal. New Orleans has everything under control. Be patient we'll be there tomorrow. If we had tried to move your Mother from the nursing home she would have died anyway. Trust us we know what we are doing.

Oh, for all you celebrities who have come down to "help" FUCK-OFF. Yeah, Sean Penn, Mikey Jackson and that little Spears Clan I mean you guys and your shallow egos and press releases about how much you've help us poor refuges. Another good lie: Refuge is not the right word for what has happened to these Americans. Cut the PC crap you pricks Refuge is the perfect word for what has happened to us because we have been left without the support we were lied to about.

For all the famous people who have helped without bragging or looking for the lime light, THANK YOU.

Yes, I am venting because I'm hot, tired, smelly and sweaty. 18 days without power, drinkable water and third world conditions tend to make me kind of angry. We are trying to "Be Patient", but its hard, very hard.

ONES

Katrina has been gone for two weeks and the fingers are really starting to point. This one screwed up, that one forgot about the buses, and lots of loved ones got left behind. Everyone is asking what happened to everyone who was suppose to be in charge.
I am long past caring, I know the ones that helped and the ones that didn't. WAL-MART did not open a single store in South Mississippi until the Saturday after the hurricane,(that's about five days), and then only on a limited basis. Meanwhile locally owned grocers,(NOT Sunflower/IGA/Corner Market all owned by Doc Roberts of Hattiesburg,MS which also stayed closed, prick) hardware stores, and pharmacies all opened on Tuesday 8/30/05 the day after the storm. None of these business had power or water, most stores with perishables gave away their stock rather than let it go to waste. Drugstores used notepads to record prescription information, hardware stores used handwritten recites and waited for the insurance to reimburse their customers, no power meant no creditcards and no one had enough cash to cover major storm repair. The ones that helped asked for no credit, avoided the spotlight, and did what they knew was right no matter the outcome. The other ones, the ones that came around after the storm and tried to explain how much they tried to help, how much we need them now, how much better off we'll be if we let them take charge can burn in hell. WAL-MART locked their doors to the people that made them rich, and the people that return to shop at WAL-MART are fools.
When the shit hit the fan the locals stepped up and provided for their community, not WAL-MART, not FEMA, and not one political ass who lied about ones experience. Oh one last thing Applebee's Bar and Grill opened with a special health dept. permit only a few days after the storm. Applebee's was the first restaurant to open, they also were the first one to try to find their employee's still missing on the Coast.
